'I didn't think I'd come home with a kitten': Man on a cross-country bike ride refuses to leave abandoned kitten behind in a village, rides two hours with him tucked in his shirt

The cycle of life is always surprising.

We'd all like to think that when we see a smol kitten in need, we would stop and help. We would do something. But when this situation meets us in real life is the only time when we can actually answer this question - would we? Every cat person thinks this, but not all cat people have the chance to prove it to be true. But when the Cat Distribution System decides that you're ready - you'll meet the cat that'll put this question to the test. It's what they (it?) do - they match the cat in need to the right person who can provide them help. And if you're chosen, you'll be a cat pawrent.

And just as it happened to this one cycling man, in the middle of a long bike ride, it can happen to you in an unexpected place. Some cat adoptions happen in unlikely places, because the cats themselves are found in a place you never thought to find a cat in. Just imagine you find a small kitten in the middle of a forest hike, or see a kitten swimming to the safety of your boat, or in this case - behind a remote village convenience store, alone and afraid, and definitely abandoned.

This is the point where we have to express our admiration for people who stop what they're doing to help a cat. And this man is no different. He was in the middle of a bike ride, and a long one nonetheless. He didn't have a car, a cat crate, or any cat food - but he managed to transport the kitten to safety on his bike alone. And that ride led that kitten right to his forever home, where he lives his best life with his human family and other cat friends.

When you don't have any other choice - you transport the kitten the best you can! What a great picture to capture that moment.

When I set out for a bike ride in the morning, I didn't think I'd come home with a kitten.

It happened in a small village, right by the grocery store.

He was sitting there - wet, dirty, and crying. There had been a heavy downpour an hour

earlier. When I got closer, he retreated behind a fence. I asked the shop assistant if he had an owner. She told

me someone had dumped him there. People around here often abandon kittens in places like

that. Unfortunately, the store didn't sell cat food, so I couldn't lure him

out with a treat and had to wait about thirty minutes for him to emerge on his own. Even if he did have an owner,

which is highly unlikely, a kitten shouldn't be sitting by the roadside crying. It's

dangerous with all the passing traffic. I rode my bicycle like that for about two hours. Now, he is safe.

In the first photo, he looks happy, but that's just the sunlight hitting his eyes. In reality, he wasn't exactly thrilled about the trip:)

Seeing this update is so heartwarming. Look at this kitten doing so well, having other cat siblings to hang around with, and generally being a happy cat himself. What a happy ending!
